WhatsApp is testing augmented reality filters and a new tool to organize contacts
WhatsApp is developing new features including augmented reality (AR) filters, call effects, and a new contact organization tool. WhatsApp first began testing these filters on a limited group of Android users last month, and now they’re available to iOS beta testers as well.
Filters include a variety of fun options, as well as practical ones like filters for low-light environments and a mode to improve the appearance of the image. A new tool will also allow you to edit the background, either by blurring it or replacing it with another scene for added privacy.
Additionally, WhatsApp is testing a new tool on Android to create contact lists, which can include multiple individuals or groups.
These lists are very similar to the “labels” system used in WhatsApp Business, making it easier to communicate with specific groups of people without having to create a common chat group.
These features are expected to reach the public version of the app soon.
